Ribes odoratum ‘Giselle’ – a rare Missouri currant with fragrant flowers and orange berries
Ribes odoratum ‘Giselle’ is a rare variety of the Missouri currant, notable for its unusual orange-coloured fruits and a particularly sweet, intense flavour. The berries grow to around 1.5 cm in size and typically form in clusters.
A particular highlight are the strongly scented, yellow flowers in spring, with a characteristic clove aroma that is clearly perceptible and attracts pollinators.
Giselle is robust and very hardy; the shrub grows compactly to around 1.5–2 m.
In autumn, Giselle also displays stunning foliage colours ranging from yellow to orange, pink and purple.
