Ribes odoratum ‘Gwen’s Buffalo’ – large-fruited golden currant
Ribes odoratum ‘Gwen’s Buffalo’ is a special selection from the USA and is characterised by its large, distinctive teardrop-shaped berries.
The berries are sweet and tangy and very aromatic; berries up to 2 cm in size are not uncommon!
A distinctive feature of this variety is its staggered ripening: The berries do not ripen all at once, but gradually. This significantly extends the harvest period – ideal for eating fresh straight from the bush.
As is typical for golden currants, it produces fragrant, yellow flowers in spring and is generally very hardy, drought-tolerant and adaptable.
In autumn, it displays a wonderful red foliage
